X-System and C-System
Overview & Description: The X-System and C-System theory is rooted in cognitive neuroscience and psychology, referring to two interacting systems in our brain: the reflexive system (X-system) and the reflective system (C-system).
- X-System: Associated with automatic, fast, and nonconscious processing. It is often related to emotional and instinctive responses.
- C-System: Concerned with conscious, deliberate, and slower cognitive processes. It is linked with planning and rule-based decisions.
Implications: Understanding these systems can help comprehend decision-making processes, impulsive behavior, and the interaction between emotional and rational thinking. It has applications in understanding mental disorders, addictions, and decision-making behavior.
